I ordered these cashews because the unit price was about half of what other cashews are. Like others, I wondered why? Now that I am almost finished them, I think I can answer that question.First: yes, they are fresh. No problems there. They are also clean, and they are real cashews, not some other nut. What sets these apart is that they are hard. Cashew is usually a buttery soft nut. These feel harder, so I’m guessing they are a lower grade that could not be sold as whole cashews. To make up for their hardness, they are chopped into very small pieces. Not powder or anything near a powder, just very small chunks. Many are also darker than the usual cashews, so that may be why some reviewers think they are not raw. I’m of the opinion that they probably are raw, just a darker grade. So to sum up, these are fresh, and darker and harder than the cashews you are used to.Do I think they are worth it? Yes, totally. I recommend them unless you have very sensitive teeth. In that case you will want to grind them finely or make cashew butter. I put mine in my Blendtec twister jar and make cashew butter. I have not been able to make it velvety smooth, but good enough for my sensitive teeth which cannot eat anything hard. At half the price of other cashews, I think this is a good deal. I weighed the bag, and it is exactly ten pounds. So it will last a while; just keep the bag out of reach of rodents, who will also appreciate the good deal.

Love how chopped these nuts are. They’re perfect for so many culinary creations and easy to incorporate because of the size. They came in a giant thick plastic bag sealed with a zip tie. Bulk packaging. I put them in two smaller freezer bags and store them in the freezer for freshness. Excellent product will be purchasing again!

I have been ordering cashews for years mainly to make cashew cream, and milk, which I use in my coffee and to make sauces and dressings. I love the neutral creamy taste - cashews do not taste "nutty". I tried these thinking it may be better value. First off - they were not all white - LOTS of darker bits - they are chopped up into tiny pieces - why? At first I thought they must be roasted, but not per the label on the bag. Then soaked them to make the cream, and found loads of tiny bits that were rotten, and had to pick out individually - it was probably just one or 2 cashews, but since they were so chopped, took forever. I would not have bothered but was desperate for cream.. Then we tasted it - it tastes of almonds and possible some other nut - peanut? Definitely not a neutral cream, and not only a "trace" of other nuts - it was strong enough to make it unusable to me - I do not like Almond Milk. But even if you do, no-one wants rotten "bits" to pick out! Thanks very much to AMAZON for refunding despite the the item being non-returnable!

Others thought that this was a marginal product. I use it for making cashew butter and find it very good. There are darker peices that fleck in the butter, but really dosen't affect quality or taste. Please keep selling this product as it is half the price of others.

Great price, but taste less cashewy than one might expect.

* I'm editing my review to say the nuts did work out for making cashew milk. I soak overnight and change the water several times as it does have a dark grey look to it. Rinse in ice cold water and blend as high as you can go for about 3-5 minutes, I use about 2 cups dry before soaking to make a half gallon of milk concentrate which is then diluted 50% with cold water. Blend, fill the jars half way, then use cold water in the blender and run it to rinse the insides before adding to the concentrate, cap and mix well. Nice and creamy and a mild flavor.I picked this item because it said the product was raw cashews. Chopped was OK, as I planned to use them making cashew milk or vegan cheese and they would have to be reduced down in size anyway. I was surprised when it arrived a day early but also surprised when I opened the box to find that the 'raw' nuts were mostly roasted bits with a few raw ones mixed in. Percentage wise, probably 60-70% roasted nuts in this mix. They are chopped very small but no dust or mealy bits so clean and ready to use. They'd be fine for baking in cookies or breads but I am skeptical that the roasted bits would soften in water like the raw ones would to make vegan cream cheese. And, since they are mostly roasted and subject to storage issues, I ended up putting most of it in the freezer in smaller containers and one small one in the fridge so they don't go rancid before I can use them up.

Bought in June 2020 when the description said “May 2020 crop.” I believe it; the nuts are fresh and not at all stale. They were received in a bulk bag, which was closed properly (inside a cardboard box), but by the time it got here, there were some small holes worn in the bag just from abrasion from the nuts, so I transferred them into my own containers. They are chopped finely and evenly, but I wouldn’t call them “pulverized.” I make vegan cashew cream and cashew butter, so I don’t need the pieces to be any larger. This size makes a good topping for salads and desserts too. Not the greatest deal at the current price of 42., but less costly per pound than the cashews I can get locally, and I like that they have no added salt or oil. I also appreciate the minimalistic packaging, because I try to avoid plastic waste when possible (the “reduce” part of “reduce, reuse, recycle”).

I use these almost daily for different recipes and plant milks. I have never tried eating them plain so cannot review based on that, but for the uses I mentioned, they’re excellent! Bag reseals well, not like others that don’t reseal. I will keep buying as long as price stays the same.
