This is definately not blue by any stretch of the imagination
If purplish black is what you want, go for the “neon blue”. Yes, my hair was a very pale bluish blonde before putting this dye on... and my hair still came out dark. I had it on for only 1 1/2 hours and diluted it with conditioner.It looks straight black inside the house or when light isn’t shining straight through it. When there is a lot of light, it is dark purple. I wanted a bright and vivid blue.I haven’t had it long enough to know how it stands up to shampooing and weeks of wear yet.

Neon....Purple?
Neon Blue is of the same high quality I expect from Directions but it has a surprisingly purple undertone. It's probably the warmest blue dye I've ever seen, and I'm not entirely sure it's not purple. If you want a more neutral or cool blue, I'd suggest Directions Atlantic Blue instead.

Color did last better than other dyes
It works but for some reason caused my hair to fall out...I don't think this is something that happens to everyone... I just noticed for me it was a lot of hair falling out. Not all my hair but clumps. Color bleeds out for months every time you wash your hair. Color did last better than other dyes.
